Switching Hard drives in identical MacBook Pro models

I fried my late 2008 2.4 mbp's logic board. Since it was cheaper to buy the same year model, just the faster 2.53, and is the same OSX (leopard), should it be as simple as switching the hard drives from one to the other? I will go to the 2.53 drive at some point, I just don''t have time for a biz event this weekend to transfer everything on time. So, if the drive from my 2.4 is healthy enough, it can be switched and ran immediately? correct? Thanks for your input!!

Best to get an external HD case with FW and/or USB connections for the old systems HD.

Exchanging HDs could be done, but you might find the old drive is no longer working so you end up wasting time having to put things back.

You also run the risk of damaging your new system in the process of exchanging the HD's.
