Is Replacement Battery defect?

Replaced the battery coming with the iPhone by a new Battery received from ifixit following the the ifixit-guide.

When connecting to the charger the battery appeared on the screen showing a small red bar and a symbol similar to a lightning, but the battery won't charge.

I once more disassembeled and reassembled the IPhone checking all connectors, but no better result. No real function on Power- and Home-button.

Any suggestion what to do next?

Double check that you ordered the correct battery (a 3GS battery wont work with a 3G) and see if your old battery will charge up (eliminating dock and logic board issues). If you've got the right battery and the old battery seems to work fine you may have received a defective battery. Contact our sales department and they'll get you straightened out!
