Replaced the battery but now the display isn't working

Ok, so I have an ipod touch 4g that wouldn't charge and was out of warranty. It would only ever show the low battery screen when plugged in no matter what outlet, usb port or how long I had it plugged in. So I decided to replace the battery myself but in the process I manage to ruin the display.

Now I believe the battery works now because the Ipod backlight will show when I press buttons with it unplugged but the screen is unresponsive to touch and doesnt show any kind of picture. Only the backlight lights up.

What worries me now is that I don't know if a glass/digitizer/lcd replacement will cure it. The ipod doesnt make any chime when plugged into anything anymore. Itunes however does detect it.

Is more wrong with it than the display?

Thanks

I would recommend double-checking your connections. If the iPod's display cables aren't properly connected, it could be causing all kinds of issues with the iPod because the misplaced connectors could be shorting out the logic board.

One way to tell if the iPod still works is to detach the display entirely and then plug the iPod in. If the volume is all the way up, you may hear the little "plugged-in" chime.

You also must bear in mind that the iPod will probably have to charge for a while before it boots up. If an iPod/iPhone/iPad's battery dies completely, it will have to sit on the red battery screen for several minutes before proceeding to boot.

So, I suggest those two things:

1) Double-check your display connections

2) Try the iPod without the display on it.

Let us know what happens! Good luck! I hope this helps.
