Battery broken after water damage!

MacBook Pro (15-inch 2.53GHz Mid 2009)

Hey there,

after a water damage, the battery of my MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2.53GHz, Mid 2009) had to be taken out because it swelled enormously and pushed up my trackpad..

I ve already brought it to a Mac Store but they said it is not enough to only put a new battery in due to some connection issues, which they were not sure about... It´s still working perfectly fine when it is attached to the charging device!!!

So any suggestions what might be causing the problem or what makes a replacement so difficult?

Should I just take the risk and try to insert a new battery??

Looking forward to any responses ;)

Cheers,

Eileen

Apple seems to be getting tougher on warranty repair since we lost Steve. If the battery is swelling it will start damaging your computer so get it out of there and replace it.

Thanks for your fast response!! But the battery is already out.. and now they say it is not worth buying a new one because it probably won´t work. Although I still don´t know why it shouldn´t work... So should I just take the risk, buy a new one and do it by myself?

Of course, if it doesn't you can always return the battery as long as you don't put a lot of cycles on it.
