LCD lower half is going crazy.

My display is going kinda crazy. The bottom half of it will normally get distorted. I sent it into repairs 4 times and they've all been free (even though my warranty has expired), but it's never been fixed. I finally got fed up and told them to check carefully, now they say it's my LCD and it's gonna cost quite a bit to fix it. The thing is, every time they sent it back the problem became worse. Now I can't use my laptop without holding the screen. The problem usually goes away if I press the LCD/back of the monitor together. Now my Q is, do I need to replace the LCD, or just find a way to get them to stay together (maybe it being separated is a problem.

Well my computer is nearly 3 years old. Way out of warranty. I'm in China too, so it's not exactly an option to do all of that. I have to send it to a authorized service repair as well. I think they've just been replacing the Nvidia card thinking it was another problem, and only just found out that it was the actual monitor. I already requested another computer but no go there. I can try again, but I've called many times asking for a new comp.

Ok: excitement aside. You say you have sent it in a number of times. Who did you send it to? Apple or someone else? Second, Are you the first owner of this computer or did you buy it from someone else? I know two laptops that were repaired by Apple after warranty expired and one of the two was replaced with a newer one. Nobody used or threatened the use of a lawyer. Please let us know these answers and we will see what we can do to help.

First of all if it's been in four times for the same thing and never fixed I would demand a new computer. Get a Apple store manager or better yet, Apple Corporate supervisor and request a new computer. Call Cupertino, CA 408.996.1010 Ask for Steve Jobs, you won't get him but you'll get someone high up. That aside, request warranty exception. A lawyer at your side wouldn't hurt. Having the records of the repair attempts in hand also wouldn't hurt. You got a lemon and are entitled to what you paid for and that's a new computer that works as advertised. Get tough, take Bubba with you. You are being run over. If all else fails, take it to small claims court, no lawyer needed. Here that costs $26. Apple will probably settle fast.
