Where is the location of wire anthenna on modem modified router board?

I have a modified router, just 2 months bought it. Last 2 days, suddenly its not capture the signal, the indicator light not showing up. Later, I decided to open the case and I found out the wires of anthenna were disjointed with the board. Anyone knows where is the place of this wires should soldering it back? Please help me.

Hi @hanafiaris,

What is the make and model number of the router?

by

@hanafiaris - if you can post some pics showing the area of concern and a larger one showing the full board. Make sure you have a lot of light and the images are in focus.

Here is the model and make number

@naf13 - I think you’ll need to go back to the seller as I can’t find what you have as it’s not enough info. Can you point to a site that has the router at least. But the real key is getting some pics of the board so we can see things.

Hi @danj

Searching online for CP106-ZJ-LTE shows listings for mainly generic unbranded 4G LTE WiFi, WAN, Ethernet routers. The only branded ones were Huawei models B315, B525 and B593 4G LTE routers.

Only the B593 seems to have the external antennae option for the router, (looking at the user guides anyway) located towards the top on the back of the router.

Here's a B593 teardown video I found and whilst it doesn't show the external antennae when the board is visible you can see one long blue cable (signal cable?) and when the board is flipped over you can see what appears to be two blue signal? cables - external antennae connections?? They seem to be in the right place

Maybe this is what the OP was talking about.

But seeing an image of the actual board in question will definitely help

Cheers

Hi @naf13

I do not know where the antennas should go but looking at the images you posted it appears as though there's a damaged IC as well.

Here's an image to show the one I mean. Unless it is the light shining on it causing a reflection, normally IC components are in a black plastic package but this looks damaged as there appears to be copper coloured metal exposed.

Hopefully I'm wrong.

Does the front of the modem look like this one?

@jayeff @naf13 - This is an odd duck for sure!

It appears to have two antenna rods but only one connector on the board. AC routers really need two inputs so it can offer the full bandwidth of the spec.

Anyhow here’s the location of the connection

Hi @danj,

I thought about that connector but wondered why the antenna ends looked like solder connections (bare wire) and didn't have a plug connection to suit the board.

That is if was working OK before and then suddenly stopped as suggested by the OP

"...have a modified router, just 2 months bought it. Last 2 days, suddenly its not capture the signal..."

Also the damaged IC wouldn't help

@jayeff - Clearly this is a 💩job of wiring. The two leads are soldered together instead of using a proper T connector so the axial wire is fully shielded and here they likely just pressed the wire into the board connector.

@danj

Seems the most likely way it was done.

Well I suppose the OP can try finding a suitable coax connector and do it properly or improvise like it was done before ;-)

Cheers
