General Microphone Problem on iPhone 4S?

I've heard about and been experiencing the problem with iPhone 4S: When making calls you hear that noise (like when dialing to a DFU network) and sometimes an echo of your own voice.

After having replaced my iPhones rear panel this weekend (shouldn't have to do something with the mic in particular) people can't hear me at all and hear that noise instead (if I really loudly whistle into my iPhone they can hear that too). Same with the voice memo app.

Does anyone have an idea whether this issue might be somehow connected with the general iPhone 4S problem or maybe to my simple rear panel replacement?

(judging the time the problem was encountered this seems way more likely to me)

Best regards,

Dominic

It may be possible that the rear panel replacement is constructed in a manner that is creating unintended metal on metal connections.

Potentially try taping the inside of the rear pannel to block any metal areas that could be causing interference?

If you are under warranty, even with the back panel replacement, you may just be able to get apple to switch out the device for being faulty.

Thanks for your input!

I've just checked that and took off the rear panel. Unfortunately, it still didn't work.

If it won't work I will ask Apple to replace it, but only if really necessary because it's not the first time I've opened the iPhone...

Also I would be very interested in what could be causing this problem.

Hmmm...sorry I couldn't be of more help.

If you do end up taking it to apple and find out what is causing the issue, I am curious to know as well!
