Keyboard backlight stopped after 2018 to 2020 LCD swap

I took an LCD assembly from an A1932 2018 and mounted it on a A2179 early 2020. I was led to believe these are intercompatible. Well, screen works great but client reported keyboard backlight stopped working.

Does anyone know an intercompatibility issue between these 2 models? I'm haven't tested the webcam and I'm already worried client will report back on this too.

Answer this question I have this problem too

I faced the same issue! The 2018 does not offer TrueTone support the 2019 & 2020 models have. The cable connection is not the same. You need the correct display and you may need to replace the key bd backlight fuse.

To add to this the 2020 model lid is mounted slightly higher for the newer keys as this was the first system to get the still newer scissor keys from the Butterfly keys. So using a 2019 display will allow the keys to rub the screen.
