Why is my Nintendo Switch Lite backlight not working after shell swap?

I attempted to reshell my Nintendo Switch Lite but there is no backlight when I turn on the console. I can hear sound and the buttons work, and I can see the screen when I shine a flashlight on it. The ribbon cables look fine and I unplugged the battery first so nothing would short. I have had a lot of experience with repairing Nintendo consoles, but I am not sure what is wrong with this one. Should I try to replace the screen?

I think it might be this cable here because I damaged one with my tweezers. My tweezers ended up being bent upward on the end, so I had to replace the one that connects the motherboard to the daughterboard. [image|2876773]

@nintendog909 that is great. Good to know that the ribbon cable is okay :-)

I'm having the same issues I thought it was the screen so I replaced it but it still has the same issue I even replaced the cable that goes from the main board to the one on the motherboard on the left side and when I turned it on it still has no picture the sound works but the left button are not working properly do I need to buy a new left motherboard?

Disconnect the battery and remove the game card reader. Disconnect and reconnect the black ribbon underneath making sure it’s seated all the way in. Also make sure the other ribbons are all the way in. No backlight is usually caused by an incorrectly inserted ribbon.

Update (02/28/2023)

I’m sure this is the backlight connector. Is this one connected correctly?

Thank you! I have tried this multiple times and I still haven’t gotten it to work… I know that nothing is shorted, so I think one of the cables could have gotten damaged. I replaced the cable that connects the motherboard to the daughterboard but the backlight still doesn’t work. Is there a way to replace just the backlight or do I have to get a new screen?

@nintendog909 I think you’ll be looking at a new screen. Can you post pics of what you think is damaged at all?

I forgot to mention that I did use my bent tweezers on the cable that connects the backlight!

@nintendog909 To be honest they look ok. I can’t see any damage. The bottom one I think is the one for the back light. The top for shoulder buttons? I think you’re looking at a new screen unless I’ve missed something.
