How to get into the cables connecting the screen and keyboard?

My laptop is about 2 years old now and until now i've had no problem with it. A few days ago i noticed when i shut the lid it shut the computer down rather than sending it into hybernation. At first i thought it was nothing but it's not got to the point i only have to adjust the screen the smallest amount for the whole laptop to shut down.

To me it sounds like it's short circuiting and i'm thinking that the protective layer on the cables has been worn away leaving the barewires to connect when the screen is moved.

My only problem now is i don't know how to get into the laptop to see what's going on. Is there a guide that will show me step by step how to disassemble the laptop to see the cables of the hinges?

Any advice is welcome and appreciated. :)
