Hi @arohcx

Try a full power refresh and check if that resolves the problem, in case the BIOS has become corrupted for some reason preventing normal operation.

  • Disconnect the charger from the laptop if connected
  • Open the laptop and disconnect the main battery from the motherboard. You don't have to remove the battery, simply disconnect it.
  • Disconnect the coin cell RTC battery from the motherboard

Here are some images from this teardown video for the laptop that may help.

  • Press and hold the laptop's Power button for a full 30 seconds and then release it.
  • Reconnect the coin cell battery, reconnect the main battery, reassemble the laptop, connect the charger and check if the laptop turns on OK.

If it does then there may be a message stating that the time and date are incorrect. This is normal as the BIOS has been reset back to its factory default condition. Once the date and time have been corrected the message won't appear the next time the laptop is started. Also if any user definable settings in BIOS have been altered by you to suit whatever operating requirements you have, they will need to be changed back as well.

Nope

I guess the motherboard doesn't allow the laptop to even go to the bios screen !

It just boots on and off after 5 seconds without even showing anything on the display.

I guess it's some problem with the motherboard

Acer Nitro 5 is a popular gaming laptop that offers high-end performance and features at an affordable price. However, like any electronic device, it can experience issues, including not turning on. If your Acer Nitro 5 laptop won’t turn on, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and fix the issue. In this blog post, we will discuss some of the common reasons why an Acer Nitro 5 laptop won’t turn on and how to fix the issue.

Steps Fix the Acer Nitro 5 Laptop that won’t Turn On

Step 1: Check the Power Source

The first thing you should check is whether your laptop is properly connected to a power source. Plug in the charger and check if the charging light is on. If it is, let it charge for a while and try turning on the laptop again. If the charging light does not turn on, try a different power outlet or charger.

Step 2: Remove External Devices

External devices like USB drives, external hard drives, and printers can interfere with the boot-up process and prevent the laptop from turning on. Disconnect all external devices from your laptop and try turning it on again.

Step 3: Reset the Laptop

Resetting the laptop can help fix software-related issues that may be preventing the laptop from turning on. To reset the laptop, follow these steps:

  1. Disconnect the charger and remove the battery (if possible).
  2. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  3. Release the power button and reconnect the charger (and battery).
  4. Turn on the laptop and check if it boots up.

Step 4: Check the Display

If you see no power light or hear no sounds when you turn on the laptop, it could be a display issue. Try connecting an external monitor to the laptop and see if you can get a display on the external monitor. If you can, it could mean that the laptop’s display is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Step 5: Check the RAM

If the laptop still won’t turn on, it could be a RAM issue. Try removing the RAM modules from the laptop and reinserting them. Make sure they are properly seated in the slots. If the RAM modules are faulty, you may need to replace them.

Step 6: Perform a System Restore

If none of the above steps work, you may need to perform a system restore. This will restore your laptop to a previous state when it was working properly. To perform a system restore, follow these steps:

  1. Turn on the laptop and press the F8 key repeatedly until the Advanced Boot Options screen appears.
  2. Use the arrow keys to select “Repair Your Computer” and press Enter.
  3. Select your language and click Next.
  4. Enter your username and password and click OK.
  5. Click on “System Restore” and follow the prompts to restore your laptop to a previous date when it was working properly.

Acer Nitro 5 AN515-52-77HV. I have orange charging light on but computer will not power ON. Tried the power reset and pin hole technique, still no power. Opened the unit, removed battery, checked RAM. checked all connectors, checked motherboard... nothing out of the usual. Pin #1 displays 3.3vdc. Tried to momentarily short Pin #1 of keyboard connector to ground to manually switch ON, nothing. No liquid spilled on keyboard, No ants crawling. Please HELP!

Hey Eric De Jesus, I'm having the same type of problem with my Acer Nitro 5 AN515-54 51M5! My laptop's power LED turns on (blue) for a few seconds and then turns off. There's a lot more I have to it.

@t_nology I’m In The exact same boat. Just did a screen replacement and nitro won’t turn on

Realized keyboard power switch malfunction. Did a successful remedy. Soldered wire to Pin#2 of keyboard connector and another wire to ground. Both wire ends meet on a small PCB push button which I glued on the side of the laptop, the wires coming through the security slot. It only works to boot the unit but not to switch off. I used the operating system to power off. In case the system hangs for whatever reason, the reset pin under the unit will come handy.

Glad to see that your problem got resolved. I never got my problem figured out - the keyboard backlight doesn't turn on, but the blue power LED on the side does for a few seconds (and then turns off). This is regardless of whether or not the charger is plugged in and whether or not the regular or CMOS battery is plugged in. However, if I don't try to turn it on for a long time, my laptop's keyboard backlight does turn on for a few seconds when I try to power it on again. There doesn't seem to be a reset pin in my laptop - I have the Acer Nitro 5 AN515-54 51M5.

Have a similar issue with powering on my acer nitro 5. Power button doesn’t usually work but tapping F2 does turn the laptop on. However laptop switches off after 4-5 seconds. Remedy, remove the bottom cover, turn laptop on as above then unclip the keyboard connector. Laptop stays on and restarts fine using windows. Assume keyboard fault!
