USB ports working but not charging

Hey,

My macbook is currently not charging. I know the USB ports are working as I had external drives plugged in before it died but the macbook wouldn't accept a charge from any of the ports; even when tested with other chargers.

It's an issue that I previously had fixed at the apple store where they mentioned a connector had come loose between the ports and the battery. My guess is that it's the same issue again and wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction of which connector you think this could be please?

Thanks,

Answer this question I have this problem too

The charger isn't connected to a charging port on your PC. The charging cable doesn't meet the power requirements for the charger or PC. Dust or dirt inside the USB port on your device might be preventing the charger from being inserted correctly. The charger is connected to your PC through an external hub or dock.

Will

Are you using the original Apple USB-C charger and it’s cable? Often times people loose or damage the original charger and/or cable. Be careful! As there are a few which which will damage your system or just not work at all.

If you have the proper charger and cable, as well as tried all of the ports to see if one side or port on one side was bad. Then you need to get ahold of another charger and cable, best to just visit the Apple Store if nearby.

Often times the power controller has failed which is the green marked chip in Step 4 which you can see here MacBook Pro 15" Touch Bar 2019 Teardown I bet you that was what Apple discovered before.
