Liquid Spill - No WiFi, but bluetooth works - MacBook Air 13” Mid-2012

Hello!

Spilled liquid on a Macbook Air 13” mid-2012. Everything works except the Wifi. Bluetooth works also. Wondering which part needs to be replaced? I couldn’t see any visual damage

Do I need a new airport card? (maybe doesn’t seem to be the case bc the bluetooth works)

New IO cable? IO board?

Thanks!

Have you removed the card and cleaned the contacts? Card and socket?

I ended up switching out the air port card and it fixed it!

I’m assuming some of the circuitry that handled the wifi was fried but bluetooth worked. Once I popped in the new air port card ($6 on ebay) wifi was back up and running

thanks for the advice tho! :)

Before you decide to buy new WiFi card, go to Apple logo left top corner, click and go to - about this mac - system report- scroll down to network tab and click wifi. See if your operating system loads the wifi data. If you see data it’s a good sign. At this point it’s possible that you’re experiencing a software issue.

Next go to system preferences and select “network”

Highlight “wifi”

Scroll down and hit the minus sign and click apply. This will delete the WiFi profile.

Now scroll down and hit the plus sign.

On the drop down menu (interface) select wifi and click “create”

This will recreate the WiFi network profile.

Click “turn it on” and press apply.

Let me know if this worked.

Buy some of the gel packets that absorb water like you get when you buy shoes that says do not eat these absorb awesome amounts of moisture and put device in ziplock with them for a few hours or longer if it was bad spill you should do this even if your problem was fixed to get all remaining moisture out of device you can buy at dg they sell them in the home wares and accent sec
