Repair: MacBookPro1,1 Optical Disc - Vunerable to Kryptonite Disc?

iFixit Guru,

The optical drive on my 15" MacBook Pro (1,1; 2Ghz Core Duo) needs to be replaced. Your site has an 8x SuperDrive available, but it has a quizzical comment posted in its description:

"NOTE: SuperDrive vulnerable to KryptoniteDiscs."

What does this mean and how does it relate to the security of my computer?

Appreciate your time and consideration.

Don't worry, "vulnerable to KryptoniteDiscs", is geek humor after calling it faster than a speeding bullet. This is one option. The other is to get a high end external drive that costs less but will work on your other machines and move to your next machine. I really like the LaCie USB/Firewire drives. Being firewire they will also be bootable from PowerPC processor machine. They're faster and more durable and cost less and have lightscribe to be able to burn labels onto the disks with the laser. Here's a 22X at $99: http://www.lacie.com/us/products/range.h...
