First reset the PMU (Power Management Unit). Here's how: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1939

Next replace the 3.6 volt 1/2 AA PRAM battery. Next see if you can reset the PRAM and Nvram: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379

Next observe the diagnostic lights on the logic board before and after trying to start and let us know what they are.
