Safari unexpectedly shuts down after a minute of running

About a week ago, I was browsing the internet on Safari and it shut down. A message came up saying the safari had unexpectedly shut down. I am using a wireless router, which is also running Safari on my I-Pad (on which Safari works fine using the same router).

I've tried restarting the computer, checking the router's connectivity (which shows up as working fine), connecting it directly to an Ethernet cable, and holding down "option", "command" and "P" and "R", and nothing has had any effect. Safari always loads normally, and then "unexpectedly shuts down" after a minute or so.

Everything else on this MacBook. Any ideas?

If it stays open long enough to do it, you can always choose the "Reset Safari" option from the "Safari" menu...maybe that would purge whatever corrupted data is causing the issue.

Fixed it! All that I did was go to Safari menu on top bar, after Safari was brought up, and click on "reset Safari".

thank you for your help! What a bizarre thing...

Try a reinstall of Safari: http://www.apple.com/safari/

If you don't have another browser, like FireFox installed, trash your current version and do a software update.

I also went in and chose "safari reset" and it did not help. Then I went into the menu again and chose "empty cache" then "reset safari" and that worked.
