Can I swap the logic boards on an Intel iMac (early 2006)?

I bought an iMac 17 inch Core Duo (logic board 820-1919A) which has a faulty logic board (I believe)...).

The mouse cursor always freezes and I cannot install Mac Os X because ist also freezes. I swapped the hard drive but it did not help.

My thought is to replace the old logic board 820-1919 A (early 2006) with a logic board from an Intel Core 2 Duo (logic board number 820-2052A).

Is it possible to swap those boards? I heard the holes for the screws and the connector for the power might be different.

Thank you for your help!

Your question is sketchy at best. First let's see exactly which machine you have. Look on the bottom of your stand and give us the last three figures of your serial number. Next a description of what happens when you try to start it up. Next what do the logic board diagnostic lights tell you? Next the logic board is the same for the core duo and the core 2 duo the only difference is the CPU. Do your homework before spending your money.

Thank you for your answer. I found the correct answer myself. The logic board for a late 2006 iMac 17 inch (Core 2 Duo) fits exactly in an iMac early 2006 (Core Duo).

So the logic boards 820-1919 A and 820-2052 A are interchangable.
