Hi,

Try connecting an external monitor (TV?) to the laptop's HDMI port and check if there is a display on it when the laptop is turned on.

Don't forget to press Fn + F5 (both together) to toggle the display between laptop screen only, external monitor only or both on together

If there is a display on the external monitor, then try shining a flashlight at an angle close to the laptop's screen and check if any images can be seen. They will be very faint if they are there so trying this in a darkened room may help to see them if they are there.

If there are images on the laptop screen then there's a backlight problem in the laptop. This could be either a faulty CCFL tube (cold cathode fluorescent lamp) in the screen, a faulty backlight inverter power supply or a faulty cable between the motherboard and the display - not sure if the backlight power is in the video cable or is a separate cable.

If there are no images on the laptop screen then it may be a faulty screen or a faulty video cable/cable connection between the screen and the motherboard

If there is no display on the external monitor, then check if you can get into BIOS on startup with a display on the laptop. There will be no display on an external monitor when in BIOS. Start the laptop and press F2 as soon as it starts.

If there is no display or you can't get into BIOS there may be a problem on the motherboard and further testing would be required.
