Laptop won't turn on, battery light blinking

The model is Asus vivobook 14 m415dao-vips351.

The problem started with random BSOD with random error codes.

Then last time the screen turned off without warning with fan still running. I turned it off by holding power button for a few seconds.

Now it won't turn on at all, but power light is on, and battery light blinking all the time.

How do I start fixing it/figuring out what's wrong with my laptop?

Edit: battery light still blinks even when it's plugged in

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

First of all all what do you mean by "random" error codes? So seemingly random to you. Nothing is random with computers. There is always a specific reason. The task is find what it is.

Here are some of the LED codes:

Power indicator

The power indicator lights up when the Notebook PC is turned on and blinks slowly when the Notebook PC is in sleep mode.

Two-color battery charge indicator

The two-color LED provides a visual indication of the battery's charge status.Refer to the following for details:

  1. Solid White : The Notebook PC is plugged to a power source and the battery power is between 95% and 100%.
  2. Solid Orange : The Notebook PC is plugged to a power source, charging its battery, and the battery power is less than 95%.
  3. Blinking Orange : The Notebook PC is running on battery mode and the battery power is less than 10%.
  4. Lights off : The Notebook PC is running on battery mode and the battery power is between 10% to 100%.

So it looks like your battery charge level is low below 10% of full charge.

Is your charger working? Should output approximately 19volts if you have a multimeter. For your laptop just look at the label on the charger itself for the correct amout. Are you using the original ASUS charger?

Leave it plugged in over night to see if it charges. If it you may need a new battery or charger.

This isn't exactly your model but may be similar. Don't take the battery out but just disconnect it as shown in Step 3. Then connect the charger and see if it turns on. If it does then the battery may be the problem. If it doesn't the charger may be the problem. Any blackouts or power surges in your neigbourhood lately ?

1 Comment:

By random I mean every BSOD shows different error code each time.

Never changed battery or charger since bought. The battery's full. I've done the overnight charging with no result.

Ok thank you I'll try to do something about the battery
