Pressed power to reset, won't turn back on

My mac worked fine this morning. it took a fall of not even 3 feet onto carpet while closed, wasn't bad. opened and worked fine. left for my day. came back, opened mac and worked fine. tried to plug it into a monitor i use all the time. wasn't connecting. so i pressed the button to restart, it shuts off, and is dead as a doornail. no combo of buttons can turn it on. called apple, they of course said i have to take it in. what cables or anything should i look for if knocked loose? anything else i can try? monitor works on roommates computer btw. thanks
