Steam Deck fit toghether case parts

Hello everybody, I have a Steam Deck, where it seems that the front case and the back case doesn't fit perfectly together. This result in a clicking noise on the right side of the steam deck when holding it very tightly. The case doest seem to be very sturdy.

As the official support cannot offer help as its not a functionality issue I would like to repair it myself.

On what part cases do I have to focus when trying to fix that kind of problem. The spacers or isolation material?

Thanks you very much.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi

Here’s a full disassembly guide of the steam deck

Steam Deck Front Shell Replacement

As for what you should focus on ,I think it’s probably best to look into the shell/case as they have everything screw into them

If you follow the guide through and successfully reassemble the device you should hopefully have a steam deck that fits nicely together

Hopefully this helps

Any questions please ask

Thanks:-)

Thank you very much for your kind reply.

Unfortunately for me, it's too challenging removing the whole front panel.

But I was able to remove the back panel and reinstalled it. Now it seems a lot better. During gameplay when the device is heating up the parts still feels a little bit uneven but in cold state its way better than before.

Thank you very much

@fhihu

Glad to hear it’s somewhat improved:-)

If it gets worse asking valve(again) might be a option

Thanks:-)

Hello, MacOS,

This guy wrote in his review that the backplate doesnt fit nicely at his steam deck.

Steam Deck Back Plate

Maybe it only the backplate. If its getting worse I will contact steam support again.

Thank you

@fhihu

It could be that the back plate is designed in such a way thats it’s difficult to get on and off

The person mentioned using electronics grease to help get it on properly

Doing something similar might be a option if it becomes a issue

It could also be worth looking for a 3rd party replacement part ,if you do this look at the reviews and check to see if people as saying anything similar:-)

Thanks:-)
