My USB port is damaged, can I change it?

The charge will switch on and off randomly until I bend the connector at just the right angle, similarly to when a USB cable is broken, but I tried with multiple new cables and I have a feeling the USB port might be deformed, causing the cable's connector to bend and loosen up.

Moreover, it seems like (but I'm not sure) it gets worse when the battery is low and ever more when the phone turns off.

Can I open the phone somehow and change the connector?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

@pieceofcrazy the port is soldered to the daughter board. It might just be easier to replace the complete charging board. You can get that at places like this Of course, you can also desolder the old port and try to find a matching USB port at places like Mouser.com or Digikey.com. It all will depend on your skill level and tools.

Something like this video will get you into your phone. While you do your repair, consider making a guide for the rest of us. That could help the next person that has similar/or the same problems as you currently do. https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/new
