Second hard drive (SSD) does not mount

I used the ifixit kit and a Crucial 128 SSD. I have checked that the drive works fine. But despite all the connexions have been checked twice, the SSD does not mount at all. Disk utility sees nothing.

What's wrong : the connecting cable ? Anything else ?

Try switching the drives to check out both the drives and the cables.

Excellent suggestion. Did a double-blind switcheraroo (used both cables in both logic board sockets with both drives). Result — The original drive did not work with the kit's cable and the SSD worked with the original cable. Solution, replace the kit's cable.

I got a replacement cable for the kit's cable and now everything runs perfectly.
