I want to switch my white iPhone 4 to a red or maybe black i have seen videos and things but those are professionals how easy is it for a ordinary guy to do this. Also what are the dangers and do you have any tips?

It isn't too bad, the only real 'issue' is that in order to change the front you [near enough] have to take everything out and put it back in again, you'd only really need to follow this guide:
iPhone 4 (CDMA/Verizon) Screen Replacement
as for tips:
when putting the new display assembly on make sure the digitiser and screen connectors don't get caught/pinched between the assembly and the mid casing, just give them a gentle pull to help them through when you're putting the assembly on.
