iPhone XR true tone not working despite using Qianli iCopy

SOLVED:
I got my True Tone by using JC Repair Assistant. Apparently, the MtSN which 3utools provided was incorrect.

Hello everyone,

I have a problem to re-enable True Tone function on the iPhone XR despite copying the serial to the new screen.

My young brother dropped his iPhone XR and made a crack on his front screen. I managed to get a pulled front screen and replaced it. I also transfered the cracked screen's ear speaker with the attached sensors.

After replacement, I turned on the iPhone XR and everything was working, screen, touch, Face ID and ear speaker. Only function that is missing - True Tone.

I used the Qian Li's iCopy Plus 2.x to copy the data, however my cracked screen's cable broke. So I used 3uTools to copy the "Cover Board Number" and paste it in Qian Li computer software ("MtSN").

Qian Li software and Qian Li iCopy Plus device say they both read and wrote the data succesfully. I followed YouTube videos to do this repair.

Unfortunately, it still does not work after writing the data 4 times. Does anyone else have experienced this problem before? Or did I do something wrong?

Thanks in advance and thanks for your time

It might be because even though you tricked the phone into thinking its a real screen it might not support because of it being a third party screen

If you have an old LCD then only copy the data and write if you have programmers. Ear speaker flex must be the same as the previous old screen.

What exactly do you mean by the old LCD? And I did transfer the old screen's ear speaker to the new screen.

Hi Jason,

What kind of replacement screen did you get? I can't remember where I saw it (or even if it was specific to iCopy), but I read that one programmer specifically said it didn't support the Incell LCDs. I'll see if I can find that reference, but it's a moot point if you bought an OLED replacement and not a cheap LCD.

Having used device programmers for years, it's possible you're getting a false positive on the data being written. Can you read back the data written to the replacement screen and verify that it matches the MtSN you read from the phone?

Hello Jerry, I repaired the screen by myself and the screen I replaced with is a pulled screen, "OEM DISPLAY" if you are more familiar with that. So in other words a screen that is from another original iphone xr.

False-positive written data? Nevcr heard of this before. The data from the phone and screen are identical. I added pictures in my first post to prove. I am copying the right data right? I circled them with a red box.

As far as the false positive, I'm just referring to times when the programmer (not necessarily a Quan Li) says it's completed the write operation but when you read back the data it doesn't match; a verification failure in other words. The fact that you can successfully read back the same data says that's not what's happening.

From everything I've read, it looks to me like you've done everything right. For some reason the data you got from the Quan Li software (the MtSN) isn't what the phone wants.

You're not running iOS 11, are you? Apparently there was something in it that kept a replacement screen from working even with the serial data copied correctly. Apparently updating to iOS 12 can fix that if that's the problem.

Other than that, I'm low on ideas for you. I just got my Qian Li iCopy myself but haven't had a chance to use it yet.

I got my True Tone by using JC Repair Assistant. Apparently, the MtSN which 3utools provided was incorrect.

However... after I got my True Tone back, a new error message pop up - "a problem was detected with the TrueDepth camera. Face ID has been disabled." /facepalm. I guess, I have shouldve kept the true tone broken. Now this phone has almost no value.

@dadibrokeit I’ve had those false positives quite a few times. Programmer will say complete then when I fit the screen no True Tone. I’ve had to do it two or three times for it to work.

I have seen in those youtube videos that you might need 2-3times to write to work... but I have written the data like more than 10x times.
