My iPhone mic does not work with call application.

Hello,

I have an iPhone 4 and when callin the oposit side cannot hear me. Although the mic does in the memo application.

Thanks to questions awnsers here I did the following:

First I replaced the mic right under the dock.

After that I tried isolating the 2nd (upper) mic.

Also with tightening/loosening the "special screw" where, a screw, screws in to.

Then I tried replacing the 2nd mic. Still not functioning.

Now I thought reballing the audio chip would be the only and last option. But when I opened up the metal casing from the mother board I saw something strange.

When you have the motherboard laying down like an "L" then you see the audio chip in the down left corner. And just right from this audio chip is a smaller chip. I wandered if this has anything to do with my audio chip couse this chip looks a little damaged?

Would be nice if anyone knows what it is/does.

So I won't be spending a lot of money on reballing the audio chip if that is not the problem.

Thanks

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

I Thought it would be the audio ic on THE motherbord.

But when i opened the metal casing, where the audio ic is located, i see there is another small chip/ic or something that did not look like it should be. It needs to be in the form of a square but it looks if one side is broken of a bit.

It looks that there is some copperwire inside...

If Anyone knows what this does, than i can consider replacing that or reball the audio ic.

Thanks

Have same problem, ordered new mice and power connector thing, replaced still no mic. I wander if this is popular issue, my phone is just over a year! And i have to pay 150 buks to replace. Since this is some unsolvable mystery. Do many of us have this problem? May be they should fix it for free??? like a major recall or something.

Defiantly do a factory reset (and test before putting backup back on) before you consider doing any hardware fixes.

Other possibility's:

The iPhone thinks there is a microphone attached to the headphone jack

(unplug the headphone jack, and see if it works)

Turn off Bluetooth (bluetooth microphone attached)

what i saw when i tried to assemble new mic and cord. that it works when its not grounded, right when speaker touches the metal, loud speaker works and mic is not. i dont know what to get from it and dont have time tinkering around it, have many other things to fix like websites and my cars which are same pain with loops of problems. so ill just replace for 150 for new unit.
