Replaced battery with IFIXIT A1965. Now Mac is laggy tried smc reboot

Hey guys, I replaced my MacBook air 2018 with the A1965 version of the battery which should be compatible with that version. The battery I took out of the mac says A1965 so I think I'm good on compatibility. Now it runs super slowly and won't reboot or turn on properly. Did some googling, and tried to reset the SMC and PVRAM to no avail. Any thoughts or recommendations? This is really starting to bother me.

Oh, multiple apps open on startup but won't show up on the screen. Still leads me to believe its an SMC issue but it has been rebooted so I am confused. Thanks!

It’s been a while since you asked, did you find a solution? I’m having the same problem.

Sorry, this question got lost!

SMC relies on sensors and if a critical sensor s not responding, SMC will put the system into CPU Safe Mode reducing the CPU’s clocking and ramping up the fan to protect the system from heat damage.

So in this case either the battery sensors where not communicating to SMC or one of the voltage sensors on the logic board is sensing an out of range condition.

I would install this gem of an App CoconutBattery so you can see what’s going on. Post a snapshot of the main window so we can see things as well.

That should I’ve you what you need to aim you on what’s needed.
