We had to buy a new fuel pump for our '98 Silverado truck. We got that on fine but they lost the bolt or screw that is the 'grounding' screw for the gas tank. We have no idea of the size or whatever and we can't put the tank back on til we either find it or get another. Any help would be sooo appreciated, more than you know!

Brandy, looks like the bolt you need is a "BOLT-HFH F/TNK STRP,M10X1.5X45" which makes it a metric bolt. 10mm thread with 1.5mm pitch and 45 mm length. 1.5mm pitch is a normal standard pitch. It is available here. Of course, there may be an alternative, like your local dealer or your local hardware store. Again, it depends on your location. Hope this helps, good luck.

Just wanted to give my thanks!!! We went to the parts store and got the bolt. The only problem is is that they didn't have the 45 mm length, so we got one on either side of that length...40 & 50 mm....lets hope they work! May have a lead on one from a junked out vehicle, so keeping my fingers crossed that something works. I am sooo thankful for your help, we were getting nowhere and you pointed us to the right direction!!! Thank you so very very much!!!

This information appears to be pretty hard to come by...I even doubt a manual would have the specifics. I have two suggestions though, see if another tank bolt is the same (or same looking?) and see if it works in that hole. If it does, take the bolt to an auto store and they can identify the thread type so you can buy more. Alternatively, a dealership may be able to identify the screw type if their nice...push comes to shove you end up buying a ridiculously over priced bolt ($2-$3?) but at least your truck is up and chugging!
