background light not working correctly on iPhone-

So my iphone went for a little swim the other day- I do know I need a new lcd screen. when I took it in to get it looked at, the guy told me that the background light isnt working, and it is pretty much toast. I have done a lot of research online and it says that I can replace it other than buying a new iphone. I am wondering cause I also have an Ipad can I use that background light coil until my new one comes in? and what are the steps of replacing that one coil-

Becky, just answered a question quite similar to yours. "First, of course, make sure that your backlight setting are properly set. Tap the Settings icon on the home page of the iPhone, then the "Brightness" tab. Here you should get the slider for the brightness. Moving it to the right will increase the brightness of your screen. The other possibility is that the backlight in your LCD is no longer working, you can check that by replacing the LCD (may be you can borrow someone's phone to check it out) The next possibility is a bad coil on the logic board. It is a 6R8 and not an easy fix unless you have done repairs like that before. You can check on on this video and see if you are up to a repair like this." I am not sure if your iPad has the same coil, but I'd wait for the replacement, especially if you have not done repairs like that before. That way you only have one piece of equipment that is not working right. Hope this helps, good luck
