Left half of screen is perfect, right side has vertical lines?

The Polaroid - TLX-04011C - 40" LCD TV - 720p psu has one large capacitor that is bulged up slightly, otherwise it looks ok. Any other suggestions? The TV powers up, with the left half looking great, the right half has lots of vertical lines. Could the bulging psu capacitor have anything to do with the display issue?

havebeans, you can open the unit and in the middle of the panel is the t-conn board. It has a LVDS cable going to it and the main board. With the TV on ( be careful not to touch anything else) try to wiggle the LVDS cable to make sure there is no loose connections. If no change, turn your set off. Next disconnect the LVDS cable from the t-conn board, make sure the cable does not touch any metal, and turn the TV on and see if screen lights up and with a clear screen. If it does, you know your panels is okay but that you are having LVDS, main board, or t-conn issue. Again, change the capacitor first.....;-)

It is a possibility that the failing capacitor is the cause of it. I would definitely change it and reevaluate.
