My left joystick button doesn't register

My left joystick button had drift and didn't register the stick button. I changed it for the right one on a different set of controllers that had no drift and did register the button. Drift is gone but the button still doesn't register. Is this a software issue or a motherboard/cord issue?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

have you tried calibrating it

Yes and updating it I assume updating is a software thing. I can do mine but not my son's aftermarket joycons. Updating and calibration didn't fix the lack of button register.

It could be a motherboard issue if it wont register a click even after switching them. Did the original joystick register click when you switched it to the right joy con? And if you have any working joy cons try switching them to further see if it could be the motherboard.

No I didn't want to brave the interior again my son had a broken left I bought a new set of aftermarket joycons and when I read about drift being related to the stretching of the metal housing I decided to go ahead switch it out anyway, and try the other repair also. The drift fix was to place a piece of card stock the size of the joy stick housing under it to put pressure on the little square house of the joy stick. I used the right controller joystick because it worked fine minutes before the swap and my left wouldn't register the left joystick button. I figured it would be an easy fix. But the button still doesn't register I can dig the left joystick out of my junk drawer and try it I guess.
