Replaced Charge Port Daughter Card what to do next?

After a power surge/outage with my phone plugged in it now cannot charge. Instead it flashes the charge indicator perpetually while draining the battery fast (all the way in under 1 minute) when plugged, can charge it wirelessly.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi @mook2420

If you have a DMM (digital multimeter) here's some images from the service manual for the phone that shows the charging troublshooting flowchart and also where the components mentioned in the flowchart are located on the boards.

Since wireless charging is OK (presumably the battery is not draining when charging this way?), this indicates that U7003 is also OK as it is used for both normal and wireless charging as seen in this flowchart for wireless charging troubleshooting, so you shouldn't have to check it.

Hopefully a start

Hi @jayeff, thanks for the schematics and flow charts. I have similar problem. After a water damage my s21 ultra can't charge when turned on. wireless charging works fine but cable charging with 45w samsung charger when turned on charge but very slowly (6h to full) and shown a warning that the cable might be damaged. When I plug the same charger while the phone is off, it super fast charge (1h+ to full charge). Any clue what to check? My side button is also currently not working (can't turn off screen, etc) and I have yet to try using the usb-c function (otg, hdmi out) while the phone is on. Any clue will help a lot. Thanks

@Gigin Ginanjar what did you do about the water damage?

by

@Gigin Ginanjar

regarding fixing the water damage, you didn't say that you cleaned it with Ispropyl Alcohol, only that you "cleaned it" (how? ) and let it dry.

Did you remove the flex cables from their connectors and clean them? Did you remove any shields and clean under them?

Water damage means that the boards have to be thoroughly cleaned to make sure that there is no corrosion left anywhere because it doesn't stop unless it has all been removed.

@jayeff I did wipe it with alcohol and blow it with hair dryer. I also put it inside a box with a bunch of silica gel.

I did not open the EMI shield because I'm not sure how to do it (no notch or latch in S21 ultra EMI shield). Any clue what to test in this case?

@Gigin Ginanjar

Here's the charging troubleshooting flowcharts with the board layouts for the S21 Ultra that may help.

They are the same as I posted above.

You will have to work through the flowchart and see if all the voltage checks correspond to what the flowchart shows

Thank you @jayeff, much appreciated. Then I need to learn how to take out the EMI shield. Any link to videos or guide on how to safely do it on s21 ultra?
