My hard drive makes lots of clicking noises.
Doesn't stop until I reset it and turn it off.
I can get it into disk mode, but it won't connect with itunes to reformat/update it.
Safe to assume the hard drive is completely shot?
Is this the correct model number for the hard drive?

BMWWW, yes, that is the right drive. When you have your iPod in disk mode, your computer should see the iPod as an extra drive. Try to format the drive in that mode and see if your computer can access it. If not, it sure sounds like it needs to be replaced. Also try the diagnostics mode and see what it tells you.....:-) hope this helps, good luck.
