Problem with brightens of display and keyboard not lightning up

Hello,

I have MacBook Pro 2020 A2251 and I have problem with screen brightness after updating to 12.5. Screen seems around 40% bright at setting for brightness on max. Also since updating keyboard is not lightning up and I can not change setting manually (if I move bar manually it just drops back to 0).

Will be happy to hear any suggestions and how to resolve issue.

Also I have tried to reset PRAM witch helps with screen brightness but after logging in account screen brightness returns to around 40%.
Keyboard backlight does not start working also toutchbar is on max setting of brightness.

Thanks for answers

Hi

It’s hard to say if this is a issue as my mac does the same thing in bright environments

Try putting your palm over the camera area and seeing if you can change anything to see if the issue persists

Hopefully this helps

Any questions please ask

Thanks:-)

Sadly this does not change anything. Also everything worked normally until upgrading it to 12.5

Have you tried booting into safe mode?

Well, what I can tell you is the OS upgrade is not the fault! The likelihood is the update just pushed your system a bit too hard so something snapped from the hotter running system during the upgrade process.

I would double check your displays settings make sure you have the auto brighting control turned off Change your Mac display’s brightness and use the manual control to raise the brightness.

Sadly I am thinking the same thing that something HW related went out. I am assuming that I will need to Pay out of my own pocket to repair this due to not having extended warranty. Or is there any chance that apple cowers damage due to running hot (this generation is know for running hot as far as I know but I did not had any issues before)?

In settings there is not a chance to have auto brightness (it disappeared after update) so only manual and it is turned to the max.

Keyboard it is possible to grab bar and put it to higher settings but when you release mouse it goes back to zero.

@Aljaz Repovz - mmm ... Did you get the display replaced at some point before? Or have any work done to the system?
