Will SATA III SSD Work on older Dell Latitude?

Thinking of upgrading my Dell Latitude E6520 to a SATA III SSD. I cant find anything from a trusted source saying that this will actually work. I don't know if SATA III is compatible, as this is an older system.

This is the SSD I'm looking at: SATA III 256GB SSD

Some drives are officially compatible with SATA I, II and III. Look at the "Data Sheet" from the manufacturer's web site. I've never had one that didn't work at the lower data transfer rate but there could be exceptions.

Certainly update the BIOS. Read the full instructions as there is apparently a strict sequence of a number of BIOS versions to do before the final one. This is important.

Go to this page and read all:

In my experience it has been more a question of performance than not working.

But yes do it.

This site lists drive and RAM.
