My laptop won't turn on.

Toshiba Portege z30-a broken. I've tried everything, like replacing the battery, replacing chargers, nothing works. Not even any reset cycles work. Sometimes, when I reset it and plug it in, it turns on. But only for 2 seconds, then turns off. I'm about to give up on this laptop.

MY RTC battery is also low. But Ive heard it's possible to work a laptop with a dead/low RTC battery.

Please someone help me out.

UPDATE: I put my old battery back in. It acts like a desktop, it doesn't charge past 0%, and so if I disconnect the charger it will stop working. I put my new battery back in. It works without charger, but then stops charging. Anybody have a fix to this?

Answer this question I have this problem too

The on for 2 sec would indicate that there is probably an issue with the motherboard. It could be a bad CPU.

Old battery is definitely bad.

New battery is good, but don't understand "stops charging". It will do that if the battery is fully charged.

I don't know whether you've fixed it or not. But, I think that's a bad BIOS. Connect the charger and see how much AMP it does consume. If it's 0.4-0.5A and then it goes to 0, you can try flash the BIOS chip.

It requires some equipment, but it's not that expensive. Hot Air, Solder and Programmer are all you need.
