Water leakage below windows

I have three windows in my home. In each window, about three feet below on the wall I am seeing wetness on the wall, slowly becoming colored. Can anyone tell me what could be happening and give me some tips on solving this problem?

Thx

Geetha Krishnaveni, what is your house build out of? Blocks, Bricks, or wood frame construction? What is your current weather like? How old is your home?

It would also help to know what color that "wetness" is. I have had a similar experience where at yellow-orange substance was appearing on the walls, and came to discover that the previous owner was an indoor smoker who simply painted over his walls before cleaning them. It was predominant in the kitchen and bathroom, due to the presence of water vapor. The water vapor pulled the tar from behind the paint and presented itself as this discolored wetness on the walls.

Hi,

There are literally hundreds of reasons this could be happening but I'm guessing that your window flashing was not properly installed or the window's weep holes are blocked.

If this problem is recent, it may be that the weep holes are blocked. Look at your windows and check that there is no debri inside the window slider area or against the outside of the window frame.

Best,

Marguerite
