Is the battery in the series 6 44mm the same as SE 44mm?

Your watch may still be covered under warranty! Sept 2021 is the when Apple switched over to the Series 7 so you might have a slim window to get it replaced for free! My own watch battery failed in Feb and I was able to get it replaced for free under warranty! Some countries have a two year warranty law as well.

That was the first thing i checked. Out of warranty. So I think at this point I'm going to buy a new battery and attempt the replacement.

The two batteries (6 and SE) have different part numbers, so it's not safe to assume one will work in place of the other. The one example I found on eBay shows a mAh rating of 303.8 for the series 6 battery, while the SE battery reads 2.96 mAh. The connectors look physically similar, but I can't say with any certainty whether it will plug in or not.
