Can you give us a bit more here. What happened to the system? Did you get a power outage or lighting strike nearby?

It was a slow process of not booting up. Held the on button for a few seconds, and then would boot normally. Finally reached the poin it would not boot at all.

This sounds more like your drive has failed if you are seeing the screen and an folder icon is shown with a blinking question mark.

Taking the display off will impact the onboard LED's as the screen won't vibe wired in so while LED #1 is lit it only tells us power is getting to the logic board, as you also altered the RAM we can't rule out if the RAM is good of fully inserted. I would go back to the original RAM to see if things are working.

No mattem what I have tried, the computer will not boot up, absolutel no activity, onthe than the one diagnostic led. I am considering replacing the logic board but would lie an expert's opinion before I do that.
