My dock connector has bent pins, can I fix it?

I have a 16GB iPhone 4 (AT&T) about a year and a half old. A few pins in the doc connector are obviously pushed up and out of place. It also doesn't sync to my computer any more.

Im jail broken, and Im past the warranty I voided a ways back.

If I open the iPhone might I be able to fix it?

I really would like to update my phone so I can get wifi sync, any way I can force an update with out the dock connector working?

I also have an older iPod touch, (second gen, 16 gb) maybe I could use that for parts?

The answer is yes you can fix it... The best solution is to replace the dock connector. Click on the "parts" link under the photo which will show you what to buy, also on that page will be the "how to" guide. If you're prepared to open your phone to straighten a few pins then it makes more sense to get it right. IMHO trying to straighten pins is not easy or lasting, once kinked it may bend again and more than likely break during repair.
