I am looking to purchase a used Pixel 4a 5g from ebay but it claims that the cameras have bad quality or does not open. What I would like to know is can this be fixed by simply replacing the cameras or is this a motherboard issue is some kind? I did some reading and claims that it is a defect but I can't 100% confirm this. Any thoughts?

You could try a hard reset which will wipe all data on the phone to hard reset the Google pixel 4a Press and hold the Power button. While you hold Power, press the Volume Up button and let go of both buttons quickly. Android Recovery options should be displayed. With the volume buttons, scroll to "Wipe data/factory reset" and press the Power button. If that doesn’t work replace the cameras it is very unlikely to be a motherboard issue

I ended up purchasing a Pixel 4a 5G that has a line on the screen but is otherwise fully functional. Actually I managed to get the line to disappear by simply pressing in the bottom right area. Eventually I am planning to purchase a replacement screen and considering that parts are now available on ifixit that temptation is higher.
