Sticky Keys, spilled soda, how to clean my MacBook keyboard properly.

About a week ago I spilled soda on my MacBook Pro keyboard.

After thoroughly cleaning the surface of my notebook it seemed to work seamlessly however, after some time the spacebar, left cmd, left option, left control and left shift remain sticky and have lost their clicky feeling.

I have tried to use Q-tips and 99.9% isopropyl alcohol to clean the remainder of sticky residue from around the keys but it the stickiness keeps returning.

Due to the fact that Apple switched their keys in this model and the fact that the spacebar is a tricky part to remove I was wondering if anyone had any advice.

Either advice on cleaning it further without removing caps or some instructions and tips on how to remove the caps safely would be greatly appreciated!

The issue is you're not using the correct cleaner! 99.9% isopropyl alcohol just can't dissolve the sugars from your drink. You need distilled water! But you still need to be careful as you don't want the wetness to drip deeper into your system. The keycaps can be popped off but are hard to put back without breaking them.

So consider the risks, maybe its better to let someone who's done it a bunch of times who can fix your system.
