Do any of the lights flash if so which ones and how many flashes?
Have you tried looking at the screen with a torch/flash light to see if you can see anything. If you do then either the brightness control is set very low or the backlight is not working.
Another thing to try is connecting the laptop to a monitor or TV to see if there is a display. If that works then either the screen is defective or the ribbon cable from the motherboard to the display is loose or defective.
