The calculator won’t turn on.

I got a broken calculator from my math teacher and I need help fixing it. The calculator refuses to turn on so I opened it up and checked the continuity between the battery pads and the buttons. Nothing showed up on my multimeter. Can someone please help me?

And if you plug the device into a computer through the I/O port, does the computer see the device?
