working on my HP 470 g3 motherboard and all of a sudden the screen wen

I was working on my HP 470 g3 motherboard and all of a sudden the screen went blank and I discovered that the most of the components in the motherboard including the processor starts overheating immediately I plug the battery. Please what component could be responsible for making almost all the components in the motherboard board to overheat.?

Hi,

Just to clarify that you were working on the motherboard with the power or battery connected when the screen went blank, is this correct?

If so what were you doing? Were you performing "live testing" with a DMM etc?
