Screen flickers on startup - then stops flickering after 2 mins

Block Image

Hi, my screen flickers for around two minutes on startup with vertical bars showing on the display, then the flickers fade away. It only does this if it’s not recently been used, so it’s as though the flickering goes away after it has warmed up?

Just wondering if anyone has any insight as to why this could be and if it could be fixed?

Cheers,

Tristan

Given the age of the system have you replaced the battery yet?

Let’s get a better view of things, install this gem of an app! CoconutBattery take a snapshot of the apps main window and post it here for us to see Adding images to an existing question

If CoconutBattery output is to be believed this is a very old battery! Manufactured 1979-11-30 !!!

Batteries only last about 6 years under normal use. So this is well beyond that.

Haha, that’s weird. Other than the glitchy manufacture date, does anything else look off there you can see? Do you reckon the original battery is likely to be worn out and this is a problem the worn out battery could be causing?

@Tristan Gale - A tired old battery would explain things.

MacBook 12" Retina (Early 2015) Battery and here's the guide Retina MacBook 2015 Battery Replacement

I bet you either use your system mostly plugged in or haven't used it much. Given the age of the system (2015) I would have expected more cycles.
