Why does not my MacBook air boot normally?

Hi All,

I have a MacBook air purchased in August 2014 that I've never had the slightest problem with. 5 months back It was updated to “Big Sur” and it there was no issue, it was working fine. After shutting down normally that day, I tried to start it next day, it showed a folder with a question mark and from then this is what happens:

1. I press start

2. After a few seconds I hear the chime, I can see that there is light in the screen and apple logo lighten up.

3. Nothing else happens and it shuts down after few seconds-- screen remains black and the keyboard is dark

Before it shut down it got updated to “Big Sur”

I followed all the steps outlined on apple communities: My MacBook Air it did not start, including trying to reset the SMC and the PRAM, but this did not help. I tried to get it into recovery mode but nothing happened no it is booting is safe mode. I tried to get it into recovery from Internet but it does not show any thing on screen.

Yes, I have checked the brightness of the screen, it has a good connection to power, the power cord light shows amber.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Sadly your battery needs replacing.

Batteries loose their performance both age and cycles. This is too old a battery time to replace it MacBook Air 13" (Late 2010-2017) Battery and here’s the guide MacBook Air 13" Early 2014 Battery Replacement

Update (03/10/2022)

@Abhishek Singh - I fully understand it just can't be the battery! It just can't!!!!!

Sorry your systems age and only getting 45 mins of run time tells be something very different!

OK, Lets give this a try follow the guide disconnecting the battery, now press and hold the power button with nothing plugged in for a good 15sec. This will drain the logic boards charge which in turn will release the SMC lock condition. Now plugging in the MagSafe charger alone will allow the system to boot up. If it does you’ve proved your battery is the issue. You could even go one step further, install this gem of an app! my battery is good. it shows amber when it is charging and becomes green when it gets charged. Macbook is not showing anything nor it is responding to any of the measure to make it boot like entering in recovery mode of same boot.
