Display flickering after replacement.

I replaced my macbook pro screen a year or so ago (by myself as it was out of warranty) and had no problems whatsoever. Recently my wife dropped it and cracked the screen so I ordered another replacement.

After replacing the screen and putting it all back together it flickers on and off on boot. It is loading the OS fine, I can see it between the flickers, and it also works fine when plugged in to an external monitor. I thought that the replacement screen was faulty, but when I plugged the cracked screen back in it also flickered (before the replacement, the cracked screen did not flicker, images showed fine on half of the screen).

I have attempted to reseat the connections several times and also wiggled the cables around to see if there was any effect but nothing makes a difference. I am assuming the problem is a faulty inverter or the iSight/Display/Inverter cable was damaged during the process. Since I haven't had any inverter problems before the replacement I'm hoping it's the cable.

Does replacing the cable sound like my best option? Or could there be any other possible source for the flickering?

It is easy enough to test the LED driver board/iSight cable to determine if it is the problem. If you own or have access to a multimeter/multitester (An analog one with the needle, is best for testing internal breaks in wires. The digital ones have slow reaction time.) you can test the integrity of the cable with a continuity test (resistance test on it's lowest setting) while moving the wires around. If the needle sweeps hard at any point the cable more than likely will be the cause. By doing this you can determine if this part is the problem or not. Many people would frown upon this suggestion but, you can purchase a meter such as this and return it to the store after your minute with it is done.

If the cable tests fine the problem most likely is the LED driver board since you stated the original screen had been flickering prior to installing the new LCD.
