Spill coffee with sugar on my keyboard

accidentaly I spill coffee (with sugar) on my keyboard, first i try to put my mac upside down with opened display so the coffee will go down by gravity and I put some tissue to absorb the liquid.

afterall, I leave my mac on those position within 2 days, and I try to turn on and testing my keyboard keycap on spilled area and everything was smooth like nothing happen.

after1 hour, the keycap within spilled area going sticky but the function of each keycaps still fine. Is there any advice to fix this without bringing my mac to apple store?

because in my country there’s no Apple store, its only authorized service provider.

Sadly, this is going to cost you ;-{

Spills are the most damaging. Given the age of your system your only hope is Apple as independent shops just can’t get parts yet. In this case Apple has pushed to far with its engineering making so you will need to replace the full upper case assembly on liquid damaged systems when the keyboard is affected.

Older systems we could replace the keyboards alone, now its getting harder and nearly impossible as its now fully riveted in!

If I open the keycap and clean the keycap keyboard by myself it won't fix this problem?

@gerenimo - Popping off the keycaps is not easy! Often times you end up breaking them in the process or putting them back on. Then you still need to clean the surfaces underneath without adding more liquid which could seep into the switch element. Someone who as done a few of these would be the better at it.

But again, the availability of parts right now is a big question! So far I haven't found this series parts yet.

Yes its true, I had very very careful remove the key cap one by one. And then using small brush to clean the coffee residue on scissor clip beneath the cap that cause keyboard cap stick to the bottom.

Afterall, It’s works!!! My keyboard comeback to normal

Btw, Thankyou for your advice @danj
