Cracked Display sometimes works, sometimes flickers and sometimes is b

My screen is cracked bottom left, and top right corners. The screen touch works fine but the screen goes black simetimes, except the top 1/2 cm works. The screen always works when I tap once to turn on the screen saver. The screen works sometimes and it flickers sometimes too. I don't want to replace the screen.

My screen has been cracked on the right side in 2 places (originally). At first I could only see the top 1/3 of the screen, the rest was black/flickering. After about a week I was messing around and I put pressure on the worst cracked area and the whole screen came back on. It was glitchy & flickering off and on but I could see it and the touch screen still worked fine. Now, after a few weeks it has gradually gotten worse and now all I get is orange/flickering/black screen and I can't do anything with it. I'm glad this DIY repair option is available now, so I'm just going to fix it myself for a slightly cheaper price and less time wasted waiting on someone else to do it.

Just have to figure out what the !&&* I'm going to do with myself until the repair kit arrives, lol.

Hi @samgr,

What's your alternative?

Cracks in screen and backlight problems suggest internal problems in the screen.

Screen saver probably works more often because you’re not tapping the screen

If faulty, display assemblies cannot be fixed, they have to be replaced. As a DIY repair all you can do is to temporarily replace the screen and check if it now works OK. This is just to see if the problem was in the screen only, in the systemboard or both.

Here's the ifixit Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra guide that may help.

As @jayeff says, you need a new screen. You answered your own question when you said it was damaged. If you don’t want to spend hundreds on a new screen see if there is a spares or repair on eBay with a good screen and swap the board over.
